I'm slightly embarassed that it's been a year since I posted anything on this journal and I'm still as inept at using LJ as I was then....

I've been signing up for more exchanges to get my muse back in gear, and it seems to be working! I finished two fics (for SS/HG and hprarities) and was very pleased with how they turned out. The good thing about exchanges is that they force you to produce a completed fic. I have so many things in the works from the past few years. However, I did learn not to start posting something before it's completed.

I'll be leaving Vietnam and Asia for good next month. I'm looking forward to being back in the US, but not to the horrible thought that I don't have a job waiting for me. I still don't want to settle down--I'm content to flit from job to job (although this one--two years--set a new record). Most schools don't look kindly on teachers who only want to work there for a year or two.

I can't believe I'm two weeks late with my Exchange fic. I'm so bad!!!! I guess the main reason  is that I had a lot of it written before the due date, then decided to throw it all away and start again. I've done a lot in two weeks, though. I've written about 15000 words and there's one more chapter to go. But that last chapter is so tough! I want to finish it by tomorrow so I can get it to my beta. Unfortunately, it's a holiday weekend, so both of us are busy! I hope I don't have to ask the mods for another extension.

I hope my recipient doesn't mind that I didn't follow the prompt 100 percent (I still kept to the idea of the prompt, but the story is much better this way) and that it lacks sex.

Personally, I'm very pleased with the story. I do think feel that Snape is OOC in one of the chapters, so my beta will probably have a field day with that one.

One of my fics, Just a Smile, an Andromeda Tonks fic, is the featured story of the month at Lumos. Hooray!

Despite my my LJ ineptitude, I somehow managed to post this picture above. Wow! Next thing you know, I'll figure out how to add a link to someone's journal by using one of the livejournal tags (but most likely not).

I had major writers block with my SSHG Exchange fic and only had 500 words written in three weeks, when last night I got inspired and cranked out over 1200 words in about 2 hours. I began another chapter this morning, so it looks like I might actually get this thing finished. I completely changed the direction of my fic last night and decided to throw out my entire outline (with the exception of a few minor details). And it seems to be a change for the better.

I've been settling into Vietnam pretty well. The house I'm renting is cute and my students are great, much better than the brats I had in the US.

Exchange and Vietnam!

I'm so excited about the SSHG Exchange. I kept looking at the sign up post to see what all the prompts were in the last few weeks. It became an obsession.

I got my pairing email today. I looked at the author's work and she's an absolutely AMAZING writer--I'm gonna have to read through all her stuff when I have free time.

I totally have to relearn how to use this livejournal stuff and add friends.  I had figured out how to do stuff with it on my previous LJ, but totally forgot everything except for the basic html tags. I know how to add friends--unfortunately, I lost touch with all of my old LJ friends after I took a little break from writing fanfic.

In other news, I'm leaving for Vietnam today--my new teaching job there starts in two weeks. I can't wait! It's been weird being back in the States the last 6 weeks.  However, I'm kind of happy to leave even though I'll miss my friends and family. I'm glad not to be going to China again although I miss my fiance who is there. Hopefully he can get to Vietnam soon...

So I decided to start a new LJ, since I've decided to start writing fanfic again. My old lj was somehow deleted and purged (I don't think that I did it on purpose unless I'm blocking the memory...) so I'm stuck with a number after my name unless I want to pay 15 dollars. And yes, I do realize that using my birth year is the most uncreative thing possible. I was gonna do my birth year in binary but 1010010 is too long and I think that the majority of people would think I was trying too hard to be clever but failing (which I suppose would be the truth) or wouldn't get it in the first place.

I think I'm crazy to begin again since I'm moving to Vietnam next month to start teaching which I expect to be busy, but I'm going to be away from my fiance for the next few months and need something to occupy my spare time since my social life will probably be nonexistent and for some reason I prefer it that way.

So, I'm off to write and read!
